Poster for the 2026 Great Charity Challenge event presented by Fidelity Investments at Wellington International.

We are thrilled to announce that ANGARI Foundation has been selected to participate in the 2026 Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® at Wellington International!

Now entering its 17th year, the Great Charity Challenge is a high-energy event that blends world-class equestrian sport with purposeful giving, and has distributed an impressive $24 million to 370 Palm Beach County nonprofit organizations, directly benefiting families and individuals throughout our region.

On January 31st, a show jumping team will represent our cause in competition for a share of the 2026 $2 million purse. We invite you to save the date, cheer on our team and celebrate with us during this exciting evening event that will unite our community for good. Learn more here.

SAVE THE DATE TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF SUCCESS

SAVE THE DATE! ANGARI Foundation will be celebrating ten years of success at our upcoming Annual Celebration on April 11, 2026 in North Palm Beach, Florida.

We hope you'll join us for an evening of fine wine and food pairings, R/V ANGARI tours and toasting and live music as we celebrate a decade of dedication to marine science research and education. OUR 14TH LAGOON DRIFT EXPERIMENT IS UNDERWAY

November 25 Lagoon Drift Deployment_Quarterly Compass

With the help of over 190 students, educators, volunteers and community partners, 280 eco-friendly drift cards were released into the Lake Worth Lagoon and surrounding waterways on November 7th as our 14th Lagoon Drift experiment got underway.

We're receiving reports from around Palm Beach County (and even a few outside of the county)! This experiment will be wrapping up next month, and we can't wait to share what we've learned. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for cards in our waterways and along our beaches.

PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE ONLINE DASHBOARD MAPS DATA FROM PRIOR LAGOON DRIFT EXPERIMENTS

Earlier this fall, we launched our Lagoon Drift Interactive Dashboard and Map, which gives anyone the opportunity to take a detailed look at the Lagoon Drift data and results from all prior experiments! Using ArcGIS, release sites and reported cards are mapped for each experiment, allowing you to explore the results yourself and use experimental data in classroom lessons and activities.

The Lagoon Drift Interactive Dashboard and Map will be updated after each experiment alongside the publication of after-action reports. Check it out!

MARINE SCIENTISTS WORKING IN THE FL KEYS GATHER

2025 FL Keys Marine Science Wkshp

In October ANGARI Foundation proudly sponsored and attended the Florida Keys Marine Science Conference & Workshop. The event was held in Coral Springs, Florida and brought together stakeholders from various sectors invested in the health and future of the Florida Keys.

Our President Angela Rosenberg and Director of Science Education & Advancement Dr. Amanda Waite spent the week engaging with colleagues and meeting many new faces supporting Keys science and research. We look forward to the collaborations in development!

CONCLUDING A SUCCESSFUL FALL OF COE: SHARKS

Our fall semester of Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks expeditions concluded on a high note with our final expeditions hosting students and educators from The Benjamin School and Palm Springs Community Middle School.

In partnership with FIU scientists, we welcomed 82 students and 16 educators aboard R/V ANGARI for hands-on experience in shark research this fall!

We are grateful for the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant program, Kenneth S. Morton and West Palm 100 for making these impactful learning opportunities possible for students and educators across Palm Beach County, and we're excited for the spring! Applications are now open for educators to apply for Fall 2026.

R/V ANGARI CREW MEMBERS UPDATE STCW TRAINING

Angela, Kevin, Madie - STCW 2025-1

It was time for some of our R/V ANGARI crew members to update their training this November, so Captains Angela and Kevin and our newest team member Madie headed to Fort Lauderdale.

The weeklong courses are designed to train crew how to handle emergencies at sea and included practicals in firefighting at sea, CPR and first aid, life rafts and survival equipment and handling any other emergencies that may come up while working offshore and far from help.

ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY IN LOCAL MARINE SCIENCE ONBOARD OUR RESEARCH VESSEL

We were excited to show off R/V ANGARI a bit more than usual this fall!

First, our research vessel was on site during our marine debris community event as part of Florida Climate Week hosted by VoLo Foundation. The rain was no match as we decorated drift cards and talked about marine debris onboard. We even got a rainbow at the end!

In November R/V ANGARI was on site in downtown West Palm Beach during LagoonFest to welcome 185 people onboard for vessel tours and to share our ongoing work in the Lake Worth Lagoon.

TALKING CITIZEN SCIENCE WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY

Sustainability Symposium_Quarterly Compass

Our Community Outreach Programs and Education Manager Laura Jessop was out in the community sharing our citizen science study Lagoon Drift, presenting at both the SDPBC's Sustainability Symposium and Loxahatchee River Center's Lecture Series this fall.

Both events had enthusiastic participants that loved learning about marine debris and the associated impacts of it, how we are using Lagoon Drift to study the movement of marine debris and pollutants in our local waterways and how they can help and get involved!

LAGOON DRIFT BRINGS NEW ACTIVITIES TO SCHOOLS

The ANGARI Education team has been busy reaching hundreds of students this semester during visits to Cardinal Newman High School, Independence Middle School - SciQuest Academy, Palm Beach Day Academy, Nova Southeastern University, Sea Turtle Adventures and The Benjamin School.

At each visit we covered a variety of science topics, including ocean currents, marine debris and Lagoon Drift. We also worked with two classes to test activities using our newly released Lagoon Drift Interactive Dashboard and Map.
