What a way to return to in-person events! ANGARI Foundation’s Annual Celebration was held on March 25th, 2022 at the Worth Avenue Yachts display at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show. The evening brought ANGARI donors, partners, sponsors and supporters from all over the country to South Florida.
It was an intimate evening of fun, food and entertainment as everyone came together for our ocean and to celebrate our milestones and continued success over the past year. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and helped make this celebration a night to remember!
Also a big thank you to our event sponsors: Silver Sponsor Braman Motorcars; Bronze Sponsors Benjamin F. Edwards, Worth Avenue Yachts, Nautical Ventures and Palm Harbor Marina; Entertainment Sponsor Gunster; Beverage Sponsors Hanzell and Hamptons Palm Beach; Catering Sponsor C’est Si Bon; and Media Sponsors Coastal Angler Magazine, ECO Magazine and Luxury Guide USA.
GREAT CHARITY CHALLENGE CELEBRATES PALM BEACH COUNTY NON-PROFITS
In February, Fidelity Investments' 13th annual Great Charity Challenge welcomed the community to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center where 33 teams competed for a share of $1.7 million for local non-profit matches.
We were pleased to be paired with a team in the inaugural youth Pet Parade & Costume Contest sponsored by Postage Stamp Farm Foundation. The team represented us well, dressing ponies, dogs and themselves as marine life to earn us a $1,000 grant. Thank you to all involved for supporting area non-profits!
STUDENTS GET A LESSON IN SHARK RESEARCH AT SEA
We started this year off with our 43rd expedition and welcomed aboard FIU shark scientists for their annual shark handling workshop.
Graduate students in the course received instruction and hands-on training in all aspects of shark research, from setting up and deploying baited drumlines to hand reeling, measuring, tagging and collecting tissue samples from a variety of shark species. Four sharks were caught and released during the expedition.

SHARK SCIENCE AT CONSERVATION COCKTAILS
Earlier this month, we had a fun night at the Cox Science Center & Aquarium's Conservation Cocktails event.
Visitors 21+ experienced the center after hours, enjoying live demos, entertainment and engaging with environmentally-minded exhibitors. We were excited to share our mission, programs and upcoming collaborative shark research and STEM education efforts!
LAGOON DRIFT CARD EXPERIMENT REPORTS ARE IN
After a pause in our Lagoon Drift citizen science study for COVID-19, we were happy to reinitiate our investigation of regional marine debris transport with a drift card release late last year.
Summary reports from this and prior experiments are available on our website. Continued thanks to our partners and citizen scientists who make this program possible. Stay tuned for our next drift!
