ANGARI FOUNDATION CELEBRATES 10 YEARS IN APRIL

2026 ANGARI FOUNDATION ANNUAL CELEBRATION INVITATION

This year we celebrate 10 years – a decade of dedication to marine science research and education. Our Annual Celebration will be hosted in North Palm Beach on Saturday, April 11, 2026 beginning at 6:00 PM ET with our research vessel open for tours. The celebration will continue at 7:15 PM ET with a seated fine wine and food pairing. We're looking forward to seeing everyone for a fun evening of ocean science and STEM success stories. Limited event tickets are still available online.

Thank you to our major sponsors for their support: Gold Sponsors Bentley Palm Beach, Onshore Construction & Development, Sentient Jet; Silver Sponsors IJL Real Estate Group, Scott Davis Kossoff; and Bronze Sponsors Benjamin F. Edwards, Kenneth S. Morton.

WOMEN'S CHAMBER RECOGNIZES LOCAL MENTORS

Our President Angela Rosenberg was nominated as a "Marvelous Mentor" for this year's Women's Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County 30th Annual Giraffe Awards. The luncheon held earlier this month honored women in Palm Beach County who have "Stuck Their Necks Out" for other women in the community. While Angela did not win this year's award, it was exciting to be recognized among the 76 other amazing nominees across five categories.

ANGARI RECEIVES PBIBS GIVES BACK GRANT AWARD

Angela Rosenberg of ANGARI Foundation receives 2026 Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant award.

We're pleased to announce that ANGARI Foundation has once again been awarded a Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back program grant!

This is the third year we have had the honor of receiving a PBIBS Gives Back grant, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support. The $20,000 grant will directly support opportunities within our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program. Specifically, it will enable the engagement of Palm Beach County students and educators in the program. Read more here and stay tuned!

GREAT CHARITY CHALLENGE SUPPORTS NONPROFITS

In January we had the pleasure of participating in the 17th Annual Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments. The event united the equestrian and philanthropic communities at Wellington International, distributing $2.3 million to area nonprofits.

The team riding for ANGARI competed to earn $19,000 for our education programs. Thank you to our riders, horses, Team Sponsor Bird Ranch Sporthorses and Supporting Sponsors Dana Murphy and Keller Williams Wellington for making it possible! Read more here.

ANGARI IS BENEFICIARY AT BUSINESS AFTER HOURS

PBN Chamber Business After Hours team photo

ANGARI Foundation was proud to be the featured nonprofit at the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event held at ESPN West Palm in February.

The energetic evening included networking among business professionals, behind-the-scenes access at ESPN, Lagoon Drift card decorating and lots of ocean conversations. We're grateful to the Palm Beach North Chamber, ESPN West Palm and everyone who came out for their support.

SPRING IS SHARK-PACKED WITH COE EXPEDITIONS

We have had a busy spring semester of research expeditions for our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program!

The ANGARI team welcomed students and educators from Palm Beach Gardens Community High School, Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, Oxbridge Academy, The Benjamin School and Eagles Landing Middle School onboard the R/V ANGARI for an exciting opportunity to work with scientists from FIU to study sharks in South Florida.

We are grateful for the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant program, the Great Charity Challenge and The Rota Foundation for making these impactful learning opportunities possible for students and educators across Palm Beach County! Applications are open for educators to apply for Fall 2026/Spring 2027 student expeditions.

GPS-ENABLED DRIFTER TESTING IS UNDERWAY

GPS Drifter Testing Fieldwork_1

We're excited to introduce GPS-enabled drifters to our upcoming Lagoon Drift citizen science experiment.

In preparation for our May 1st experiment, we took to the waters of the Lake Worth Lagoon to field test our new GPS-enabled drifters provided by Educational Passages. The testing included collecting data to compare the behavior of our eco-friendly Lagoon Drift cards with the new drifters. We braved the weather and successfully collected flow, windspeed and location data that will all contribute to the study.

EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS FOR LAGOON DRIFT

We have wrapped up our 14th Lagoon Drift experiment and the After-Action Report is now available on our website. All data from last November's deployment has also been added to our Lagoon Drift dashboard.

Planning is well underway for our next Lagoon Drift experiment on May 1st, and this experiment will bring with it a new deployment site! In partnership with Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and Somerset Academy Boca, we are extending the reach of our study south and will be deploying from Boca Raton!

COE: SHARKS LEAD SCIENTIST SHARES LOCAL RESEARCH WITH PBC STUDENTS

COE: Sharks school visit

This spring the ANGARI team visited Palm Beach Gardens Community High School, Palm Beach Lakes Community High School and Eagles Landing Middle School as part of our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program.

The team shared the shark research being conducted onboard R/V ANGARI in partnership with Florida International University with over 500 students and educators!

Thank you to the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant program, the Great Charity Challenge and The Rota Foundation for making these impactful learning opportunities possible!

TUNE IN TO FINAL SPRING OCEAN EXPERT EXCHANGE

We have had another engaging semester of Ocean Expert Exchange webinars with our University of Florida partners learning about everything from shark movement to oystercatcher populations in Florida.

Tomorrow, April 1st, is our final live event of the spring, and we are excited to be joined by Alexa Elliott of South Florida PBS. Tune in to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the Emmy award winning Changing Seas marine science documentary series is produced! Register for tomorrow's webinar or view recordings of past events from the OEE webpage.

ENGAGING OUR COMMUNITY IN MARINE SCIENCE

TurtleFest 2026_3-1

Our outreach team has had the pleasure of sharing marine science with thousands of community members this spring! We've setup interactive displays at ManateeFest, TurtleFest and the Palm Beach International Boat Show to share our Generation Ocean: Coral Reefs 360 film and Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks hands-on education program. It was great to immerse people in coral reef research, teach them how to measure and tag a shark and test their shark anatomy knowledge. We love connecting with our community and meeting new people at local events throughout the year.

TALKING OCEAN SCIENCE CAREERS WITH STUDENTS

ANGARI is dedicated to promoting marine science and STEM careers, and our team members have attended numerous career fairs to share their own backgrounds and ANGARI programs.

Our team participated in JA Career Exploration Fairs at Suncoast High School and Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School, as well as the Florence A. De George Boys & Girls Club Career Fair where we took part in a quick-fire interview panel. Earlier this month, our Community Outreach Programs and Education Manager Laura Jessop joined Hilton Head Island High School virtually to share her experience with those considering careers in STEM.
