We have supported Bahamas marine science research since our inception, but recent years have proven tough for researchers. We at ANGARI are willing, able and ready to continue supporting scientific work in The Bahamas, but we understand the current roadblocks and challenges associated with conducting vital research in Bahamian waters.
While ANGARI is not in a position to advance or expedite The Bahamas permitting process, we do want to keep driving ocean science forward and supporting marine scientists in the field. Therefore, we are excited to announce our “Fuel Your Research” initiative, in support of marine science fieldwork in our home state of Florida. Under this initiative, ANGARI Foundation will cover all fuel costs associated with an expedition aboard R/V ANGARI.
ANGARI CO-FOUNDERS FEATURED IN PALM BEACH ILLUSTRATED
Our co-founders Angela and Kari Rosenberg received a spotlight in the September issue of Palm Beach Illustrated.
In the story, the local magazine shared some of the Foundation's history, including the vessel refit and ongoing mission and goals.

FORBES, SOUTHERN BOATING, WPBF AND OTHERS RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF MODELING MANTAS
Following the April release of the animated 3D model of the giant manta ray Skye, in collaboration with Digital Life 3D and The Florida Manta Project, manta rays have garnered a lot of media attention. Several recent articles are available via our press page.
These accurate animated 3D models of marine life are created for research and education purposes, and we're pleased to see that this model is raising public awareness of manta rays globally as well as the important regional work being conducted in Florida by The Florida Manta Project.
The STEM Action Grant program aims to develop an inclusive STEM talent pool by strengthening and improving outcomes for underrepresented groups in STEM education and careers. Funds from this grant will help us continue to make STEM accessible to all, and engage students from across The School District of Palm Beach County in our hands-on Coastal Ocean Explorers (COE): Sharks program.
CELEBRATING 50 EXPEDITIONS
ANGARI Foundation marked its milestone 50th expedition this summer during a COE: Sharks expedition with FIU scientists and local students in West Palm Beach. The expedition was made possible with funding from Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County.
Thank you to all of our supporters, donors and partners who helped us reach 50 expeditions! Revisit all the amazing work we've done along the way on our website.
FIRST EVER COE: SHARKS TEACHER WORKSHOP
We are thrilled to report that our first Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks Teacher Workshop was a huge success! Twenty-three teachers from around the state of Florida joined us for a multi-day program. See this year's program recap video here.
The workshop was hosted and sponsored by ANGARI Foundation with in-kind contributions from Florida International University, Quest Workspaces, The Ben West Palm and Hilton Garden Inn.
COE: SHARKS YOUTH EXPEDITION APPLICATIONS OPEN
We are accepting applications for youth (ages 12-18) groups for our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks education program during the 2022-23 school year!
COE: Sharks offers students and teachers the unique opportunity to participate in marine research offshore Palm Beach County, working with Florida International University scientists to fish for, tag and collect data in support of shark research and conservation.
LAGOON DRIFT CITIZEN SCIENCE STUDY CONTINUES
We have wrapped up the 7th citizen science experiment in our Lagoon Drift Card Study helping better understand water and pollutant motion in our area, and are preparing for our next experiment! Thank you to all of our collaborators and volunteers who make this study possible.
Check our the after-action report and keep an eye on our social media for details and ways to get involved in the next Lagoon Drift experiment. The bright pink eco-friendly drift cards will be deployed on Nov. 11th!
EXPLORING OCEAN SCIENCE WITH OSCEOLA COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHERS
On September 23rd, we headed to NeoCity Academy in Kissimmee, FL to participate in Osceola County School District's professional development day for science teachers.
We had a great time sharing marine science, including our Generation Ocean 360 films and Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program, with 30+ teachers. We are looking forward to exploring more creative ways of sharing the ocean with this inland county in the years to come!
MARINE EDUCATORS UNITE AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE
In July, we participated in the National Marine Educators Association Annual Conference at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. During the hybrid conference, our Director of Science Education & Advancement Amanda Waite and Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks Lead Scientist Laura García Barcia presented a talk entitled “Using shark research to engage students in science and conservation both on land and at sea.”
After a yearlong internship at ANGARI, Lydia’s passion for marine science and dedication to education led her to take on the role of Program Coordinator.
Her abilities both on and off the water make her an excellent addition to our team where she manages and executes several educational and outreach activities, implements digital marketing strategies, including social media and website updates, and assists as crew aboard R/V ANGARI during and in between expeditions.
Learn more about Lydia and get to know all of our team members on our website.
