Earlier this year our intern Lauren Jones immersed herself in our flagship Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks education program in partnership with scientists from Florida International University. After spending the spring gathering footage, she produced this film that shares what this hands-on, experiential education program is all about!
Check out the video, and visit our Coastal Ocean Explorers webpage if you are interested in learning more or want to apply for a future expedition onboard R/V ANGARI. Applications are open for 2026 and we only have a couple spots remaining in our Spring 2026 roster!

The date is set, and we are currently preparing for the 14th experiment in our Lagoon Drift citizen science study! On November 7th we will deploy yellow eco-friendly wooden drift cards to continue to investigate the flow of water and movement of marine debris in our regional waterways.
During the fall semester, we will be out and about at schools and events talking about ocean currents, marine debris and Lagoon Drift, so keep an eye out for us and our drift cards after the November release! To engage your students in the study, email lagoondrift@angari.org.

SPLASH BACK TO SUMMER 2025
June began another rewarding summer of marine science education programming with the University of South Florida College of Marine Science's Oceanography Camp Especially for Girls. In July, we headed back to Tampa by land for SharkCon where we participated in a panel discussion with our partner scientists from Florida International University.
Back in Palm Beach County, we hosted a four-day Educator Workshop focused on area marine research and conservation efforts with Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park, Manatee Lagoon and Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management. This exciting program gathered formal and informal educators to learn about local marine life and habitats. The workshop featured two days of science-at-sea onboard R/V ANGARI where the educators participated in Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks research with FIU. We want to thank the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant program for supporting this workshop and their ongoing commitment to marine science education!
We capped off the summer with programming onshore, including the School District of Palm Beach County's Teachella Elementary Back-to-School Learning Festival, and Secondary Math, Science & STEM Back-to-School Conference, and the South Florida GIS Expo.
