LAGOON DRIFT AFTER-ACTION REPORT RELEASED

Lagoon Drift_Fall 2025

We've just wrapped the 14th experiment in our long-term Lagoon Drift study examining the movement of marine debris in our waterways, and the After-Action Report is out! With 21 partners and 450+ citizen scientists contributing, this was one of our biggest experiments yet - thank you to all involved!

We are also currently planning for our next experiment and look forward to visiting many schools and organizations as we get closer to the deployment of our purple eco-friendly drift cards in April. Stay tuned for opportunities to participate and more details in the coming months.

SPLASH BACK TO FALL 2025

We had an action-packed fall semester of educational programming both onshore and at sea!

This fall we engaged 2,300+ students and teachers in our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program via 10 school visits and six R/V ANGARI expeditions! Participating schools included Conniston Community Middle, Independence Middle, Jupiter Community High, Lake Worth Community Middle, Oxbridge Academy, Palm Beach Central High, Palm Beach Day Academy, Palm Springs Community Middle, The Benjamin School and The Conservatory School @ North Palm Beach. A special thank you to the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back grant program for supporting this marine science educational programming for the Lake Worth, Palm Beach Central and Palm Springs communities, as well as to Kenneth S. Morton and West Palm 100 for making Conniston's engagement possible!

This fall also featured a variety of Lagoon Drift aligned educational programming. In conjunction with our 14th Lagoon Drift citizen science experiment, we had the pleasure of engaging Cardinal Newman High School, Independence Middle School's SciQuest Academy, Loxahatchee River Center, Nova Southeastern University, Palm Beach Day Academy, Sea Turtle Adventures, The Benjamin School and VoLo Florida Climate Week in the program.

Our team also shared our programs with thousands of community members via a variety of education, science and outreach events this fall. These events included the School District of Palm Beach County Sustainability Symposium, Indian River Lagoon Science Festival, Florida Keys Marine Science Conference & Workshop, Boys & Girls Club Trunk or Treat, LagoonFest, Girl Scout Way Campfire, America Recycles Day and Manatee Season Kickoff.

A WARM WELCOME TO OUR SPRING INTERNS

Please allow us to introduce you to our newest interns, Abba Brudney and Alex Magda, who have joined us for the spring semester!

Both Abba and Alex have a strong passion for marine science and education, and will be conducting exciting projects for our programming while they are here. Abba will be diving into our Lagoon Drift citizen science study and Alex will be getting hands-on with our Coastal Ocean Explorers: Sharks program, and we're excited for the semester ahead. Head over to our intern webpage to learn more about each intern.
